Leixões SC's defender Ricardo Teixeira, who moved to SL Benfica B in the final stretch of the transfer market, has won the first Defender of the Month award in the Liga Portugal SABSEG for the 2022-23 season. In the month of August, the Portuguese centre-back racked up 16.67% of the votes from the competition's head coaches.

Rounding out the podium were Rocha, from Moreirense FC, with 13.58%, and João Marcelo, from FC Porto B, along with Hugo Gomes, from Moreirense FC, with both players receiving 6.79% of the votes.

It should be noted that, during the period in question, Leixões SC only conceded one goal.
