Victory on penalties over FC Porto in the final held at Estádio do Bessa Séc. XXI
Sporting CP have won the 1st edition of Liga Portugal Youth, defeating FC Porto 4-3 in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in regular time in the final. The tournament concluded this Sunday at Estádio do Bessa Séc. XXI, featuring some of the best national and international U-12 teams.
With Pedro Proença, President of Liga Portugal and the European Leagues, in attendance, Sporting CP started strong, taking a 2-0 lead with goals from Capendja Silva and Martim Vaz. FC Porto responded in the second half, leveling the score with goals from Afonso Cester and Rúben. The title was decided on penalties, where the young lions triumphed 4-3.
Liga Portugal Youth celebrated youth football under the motto ‘The Talent That Will Mark the World’ and included participation from top national and international teams: Boavista FC, FC Porto, SC Braga, SL Benfica, Sporting CP, Vitória SC, FC Barcelona (Spain), Real Betis Balompié (Spain), Sevilla FC (Spain), Fulham FC (England), Paris Saint-Germain (France), and VfB Stuttgart (Germany).
The three-day tournament also featured a Fan Zone with plenty of entertainment, surprises, and prizes, as well as the presence of many well-known figures, including former players and Liga Portugal ambassadors.
