Santa Clara deal the first blow to Sporting CP

In the 17th matchweek opening fixture of Liga Portugal bwin, Santa Clara became the first to beat Sporting CP in the competition with a 3-2 triumph at Estádio de São Miguel. 

In a spectacular fixture, the Lions took the lead in the 10th minute thanks to Palhinha’s “rocket” from outside of the box. The islanders equalized around the 30-minute mark when Jean Patric headed the ball into the back of the net. 

In the second half, Sarabia reclaimed the lead of the match for the Lions with a one-touch finish. In the next minute, Lincoln finished a great team play in the best possible way, putting the score back on level terms once again. Then, in the 78th minute, the fresh off-the-bench Ricardinho scored the winner with a strong shot that still hit the crossbar before going in, sealing the win for the hosts.
