Meet the players who stood out in the seventh matchweek of the competition

Liga Portugal bwin Matchweek 7 kicked off at Estádio José Alvalade, with a fixture that got resolved only in the last minute with an accurate shot from the penalty spot taken by Pedro Porro.

On Saturday, SL Benfica relied on Yaremchuk’s goalscoring skills to beat Vitória SC in their own home by 3-1.

One day later, in the Azores, Lincoln wrote the last chapter of Santa Clara – SC Braga with a brilliantly taken free-kick that was worth one point for the islanders.

The matchweek ended at Estádio do Bessa Séc. XXI where Francisco Geraldes took it upon himself to lead his teammates of Estoril Praia, who are yet to lose an away fixture.

Get to know all of the players that won the "Liga Portugal bwin Man of the Match" awards in the 7th matchweek:

Sporting CP vs Marítimo M. – Pedro Porro (Sporting CP)
In their clash against the islanders, the Lions had more presence in the opponents’ midfield, more shots, and more ball possession, but the final whistle was drawing closer and Rúben Amorim’s team was proving to be unable to break the deadlock. However, in the 98th minute, the hosts were awarded a penalty kick and Pedro Porro didn’t waste this chance and put the ball in the top corner of the goal.

FC Porto vs Gil Vicente FC - Sérgio Oliveira (FC Porto)
The midfielder chose the best possible time to show his free-kick-taking prowess. With the 90th minute getting closer and closer, the fresh off-the-bench midfielder took a free-kick that only stopped at the back of the net and got them the three points.

Moreirense FC vs FC Arouca – André Luís (Moreirense FC)
The hosts were winning by the minimum margin when André Luís scored the goal that gave them the comfortable lead they would end up needing. The forward sprinted across the center of the pitch, took on the defenders, and, already inside the box, chipped the ball over the opponents’ keeper in a move of pure class.

Vitória SC vs SL Benfica – Yaremchuk (SL Benfica)
Forwards live out of goals and, thus, the Reds’ Ukrainian new signing is well alive. Yaremchuk put SL Benfica on the right path by scoring the first two goals that paved the way towards the Eagles’ triumph at Estádio D. Afonso Henriques.

CD Tondela vs FC Famalicão – Dadashov (CD Tondela)
In a match with 5 goals, the Azeri forward used his head to score the goal that sealed the win. After a cross coming from the left-wing, Dadashov rose to the skies to win the ball from the keeper and put it past him, thus scoring the winning goal.

Santa Clara vs SC Braga - Lincoln (Santa Clara)
Paulo Oliveira’s accurate header seemed to have sentenced the islanders to defeat, but the Brazilian midfielder said “here” when called on stage. In the 90th minute, Lincoln brilliantly took a free-kick from just outside the box and didn’t give Matheus any room for success.

Portimonense vs FC Vizela – Charles (FC Vizela)
Some fixtures are easier explained by the stats, and Charles’ night in Algarve is a good example of that: none of the 12 shots from the home team resulted in a goal, and it was mostly due to the performance of the Brazilian keeper, who proved to be an unsurpassable wall.

FC Paços de Ferreira vs Belenenses SAD – Safira (Belenenses SAD)
FC Paços de Ferreira’s strong start made Belenenses SAD’s mission look like an impossible one to achieve, but the team coached by Petit had Safira to help them recover from their disadvantage. The forward, who was always looking for the opponents’ goal, took advantage of a wide corner kick to score the equalizer, and the score wouldn’t change again.

Boavista FC vs Estoril Praia – Francisco Geraldes (Estoril Praia)
At Bessa, Francisco Geraldes was the one calling the shots in the midfield. With the quality that we have come to expect of him, the midfielder controlled the pace of the game for his team and ended up assisting André Franco in scoring the equalizer.
