2-1 win in Portimão brings northern club closer to the Liga Portugal Betclic

In their visit to Portimão, AVS gained the advantage in the Playoff for access to the Liga Portugal Betclic by defeating Portimonense 2-1.

In the first leg of the playoff, the visitors took the lead in the 19th minute through Anthony. Following a corner, a persistent play by the Aves team, with several rebounds, ended with the ball in the back of the Algarvian's net.

Early in the second half, Benny received the ball inside the Portimonense area and, with a narrow shooting angle, surprised the Japanese goalkeeper Kosuke Nakamura, extending the lead to 2-0.

In the last five minutes, a cross from the left wing of the home side’s attack led to AVS defender Jorge Teixeira inadvertently deflecting the ball into his own net, making the final score 2-1.

The decisive match is scheduled for next Sunday, 2nd June, at 19:45, at the Estádio do Clube Desportivo das Aves.
