Matchday 11 of Liga Portugal Betclic concluded with the grand classic between SL Benfica and FC Porto. In front of 63,342 spectators, the home side triumphed over their rivals with a 4-1 victory.
The opening goal came around the 30th minute, as Tomás Araújo found Carreras on the left. The Spanish full-back controlled the ball with his left foot before delivering a precise cross-goal shot with his right, sending it past Diogo Costa. FC Porto responded and equalised in the 44th minute, when Galeno played Francisco Moura down the left, who delivered a low cross for Samu to slot past Trubin.
However, the second half saw SL Benfica assert their dominance. In the 56th minute, Aursnes sent Di María through on the right, who chipped the ball over Diogo Costa to make it 2-1. Shortly after, Bah crossed low from the right, allowing a close-range finish for the 3-1 lead. To cap a stellar performance, Di María scored again from the penalty spot, sealing the final score.
This win marks SL Benfica’s 60th victory over FC Porto in this competition. They now sit in third place on the table with 25 points, just two points behind FC Porto, with one game in hand.
