In a match still corresponding to the eighth round, SL Benfica secured a 2-0 victory over CD Nacional at the Estádio da Madeira, with Di Maria emerging as the star of the game with a brace.

In the first half, CD Nacional goalkeeper Lucas França denied the Eagles on three occasions. However, in the 59th minute, Di Maria broke the deadlock from the penalty spot, calmly sending the ball one way and the keeper the other.

The Argentine star sealed the win in the 74th minute, doubling the lead with a composed finish following an assist from Amdouni, making it 2-0.

SL Benfica climbed to second place with 35 points, overtaking FC Porto by one point and trailing league leaders Sporting CP by just one. CD Nacional remains in 15th place with 12 points.
